Abstinence Program

NCHP has an active teen abstinence program in Arizona schools.

Goals of NCHP's Abstinence Program

  • Reduce premature sexual activity, teenage pregnancy and birth rates, and the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among Yuma and La Paz County middle and high school age adolescents.
  • Address one of the most significant risk factors for early onset of sexual activity in the two target counties, academic failure.
  • Forster supportive family environment that encourage youth to abstain until marriage.
  • Encourage youth to associate with prosocial peers and create a supportive environment that promotes abstinence until marriage as a social norm.
