NCHP promotes healthy living by encouraging positive family relationships and enhancing communication and coping skills.
NCHP's Family Strengthening Project Highlights
Initiating the “Entre Familia / Family Strengthening” Project targeting families in the Arizona counties of Cochise, Santa Cruz, and Yuma along with Doña Ana County, New Mexico. This intervention promotes positive communication, unity, parenting skills, patience and problem-solving skills for Latino and Native American parents of children ages 3-16. Participants in the intervention develop resiliency and reduced health risk behaviors related to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, teen pregnancy, and HIV/STDs. These efforts were made possible through funding from the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.
