NCHP VA Grant

NCHP Awarded VA Funding in Veteran's Housing Project

NCHP was awarded funding (potential 3 years) from the Veteran's Administration to work with Veterans and family.

The “Housing for Heroes” Project will allow National Community Health Partners (NCHP) to work with very low income veterans and families residing in Pinal and Yuma counties.

National Community Health Partners will implement a transportation system (ADA Mini Buses) within both counties in order to transport veterans and families to needed services identified through a comprehensive assessment process. Each household will be assigned a case manager who will assist with addressing health care services, housing stability assistance, legal issues, education/vocational goals, rent, utility, and security payments, moving costs, financial planning, and child care.

Encouragement for the project has been extraordinary and the following individuals provided strong letters of support: Congressman Paul Gosar, Congressman Raul Grijalva, Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick, Department of Veterans Affairs Southern Arizona VA Health Center System, Arizona State Representative Juan Carlos Escamilla, Arizona State Representative Frank Pratt, Arizona State Representative T.J. Shope, Arizona State Representative Steve Montenegro, Arizona State Senator Don Shooter, Pinal County Board of Supervisors, Yuma County Board of Supervisors, Yuma County Housing Authority, Housing Authority of the City of Yuma, Arizona Department of AMVETS, Housing America Corporation, Horizon Human Services, and the Excel Group.

Project start date is October 1, 2013 NCHP will open facilities in both counties and employ staff residing in each county.
